Click on the pictures for a larger view of the pattern, diagrams, and where applicable, pictures of corsets which have been made up from them. Sizing for commercial patterns is different to high street sizing. For example, if you wear a size 8 normally, then you are likely to be a size 12 in the corset pattern. Laughing Moon: Ladies Underwear
£9.25

A historically accurate pattern for two different corsets. The "Dore" corset which is a 'straight seam' double layered corset, and the  "Silverado" corset with bust gores and optional hip gores.  Both corsets are double layered, and the envelope also includes patterns for a Chemise and Open Drawers.

The Dore pattern is a good intermediate level corset whilst the Silverado is a bit more fiddly, so more suitable for the more experienced.

Both corsets are good for tight lacing depending on which fabric you use to make them up.  The instructions give good directions on how to alter waist size.

This pattern is excellent value for money.  Not only do you get extremely consice and easy to follow instructions for 2 entirely different corsets plus chemise and drawers, but also a very detailed page on the history of corsets and a  bibliography so that you can do more research if you wish.

Sizes 6-26 (Bust 30.5" to 48", Waist 23" to 40" approx) are all included in single pattern.

Busk sizes:

For the Silverado corset, you will need a 12" busk for size 6, 13" busk for size 8-14 inclusive, or a 14" busk for size 16-26 inclusive.

For the Dore corset, you will need a 12" busk for size 6-12, a 13" busk for size 14-22 and a 14" busk for size 24-26

Laughing Moon: Underbust Corsets
£9.25

This wonderful pattern includes 3 separate corset pattern including one for a Man's Corset.

The pretty ribbon corset on the left of the picture is very comfortable and corsets like these were often worn by sporty ladies when out riding, or playing tennis.  Sometimes the ribbon corset is known as the "sports corset".

The gentleman's corset is based on an authentic corset and is perfect for completing a period costume, or even as part of an alternative wedding outfit.  Imagine it in pinstripe!

The underbust corset is a timeless design  based on a historical pattern.

A single layer corset, it is an excellent start for beginners as it is really easy to make up and easily adjusted for tight lacing.  It is also a good beginners option for ladies with larger busts as it takes some of the complication out of fitting!  It is exceptionally comfortable and great for under clothing, especially if you have a day job where you are on your feet all day.

This pattern uses a 10" busk.

Multi-sized, fits women's waists 22-50", men's waists 22-64".

Hoops and Bustles
£9.50

Another fantastic value pattern from Laughing Moon, I'm sure you'll agree that for no less than FIVE hoop and bustle patterns, this is cheap at twice the price!  Inside the envelope are 5 period correct patterns with clear illustrations and simple directions.  These hoops can be used for a whole range of outfit inlcuding Dickensian and Victorian re-enactment (1856-1889), Science Fiction, Fantasty Burlesque, and ofcourse Bridal.

View A is a bell shape, meant to mimic the shape of multiple petticoats. This is the shape of medium hoops from their invention in 1856 until the "elliptic" shape of View B became popular, about 1863.  View C, the bustle, rear hoop, and flat front were worn in the heyday of trains and bustles from 1869 to 1876. This bustle/hoop can also be worn under any gown with a train from 1883 to 1889. View D and E were popular during the bustle revival years of 1883 to 1889. A bustle pad is also included which was worn during the period when all other cages had been discarded. All hoops and bustles are copies of extant period garments.

All sizes from 4-36 are in the envelope. Contains easy instructions and clear illustrations on how to make the bustles and hoops. Complete information on how to work with hoop steel, along with pattern notes, and bibliography are included. All these Victorian foundations in one envelope!!!

Saloon Girl
£9.50

Do you need a cheeky outfit to go with your newly made corset?  Here's the answer!   With 7 pieces to choose from, including bustle, skirt, bodice, overskirt, drawers, hat and stockings, you're sure to be belle of the ball!  I have used this pattern to create a "Moulin Rouge" inspired outfit for a Valentines ball, using the bustle and skirt options, or you could dress up like a Saloon Girl or a Can-Can dancer.  Have fun twirling, kicking, and sashaying.  Kissing cowboys is definitely allowed!

All the components of this pattern are separate and can be combined and layered as desired. The bodice is period correct, with the pleats in back designed to accommodate the bustles of the 1880's. You can substitute a chemise top and corset (pattern #100) for the bodice.  The drawers, both long and short, are period. The petticoat and the skirts are a circle skirt. The petticoat has 3 layers of gathered lace at both the inside and outside hem. The skirts can be made in a plain circle or gored circle, with or without ruffles. The overskirt with drape front and bustle back are period correct. The cape is 1/2 of a circle skirt.

As usual Laughing Moon have supplied consise instructions along with a bibliography and historical notes.

Misses sizes 6-26 all included
